Cheryl Smith

Cheryl Smith is a real estate professional with many years of experience at all levels of the industry, beginning as a new home sales person, general real estate sales, and Broker-Management. She transitioned to Realtor Association Management earning the distinguished RCE (REALTOR Association Certified Executive). She has a broad based real estate background which includes teaching, training, regulatory compliance and coaching. She holds strong leadership skills and is highly effective in all levels of Association Management.

Cheryl values education, having earned several other designations; CRB (Council of Real Estate Brokerage Managers), CRS (Council of Residential Specialists), PMN (Performance Management Network), GRI (Graduate Real Estate Institute) as well as the AHWD (At Home With Diversity).

She believes in keeping ahead of changing trends in the industry as well as the latest in technology. Cheryl is able to identify and assess opportunities to help REALTORS® in their business as well as encourage members to become involved in their association.

She has relocated from Nevada to be closer to her son and two grandsons, nieces and nephews. She enjoys living and working in Boone, NC and serving the members of High Country Association of REALTORS®.

Shannon Getty

Shannon has been with the Association since 2013 and greatly enjoys working with Realtors and the Realtor trade organization as a whole. She studied Business Administration at CCC&TI. Serving as the MLS Director, Shannon is the primary contact for our MLS systems. She is a wife, and a mother of 5 children. Outside of work Shannon enjoys spending quality time with her family, working on her home, reading, and anything outdoors.

Amanda Bevins

Amanda Bevins joined our team in April 2021. She has a bachelor's Degree in Sociology from Gardner-Webb University. After a successful career as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) and Medical Biller, she has brought her expertise and a fresh perspective to our association.

Amanda is a native of the High Country and enjoys raising her kids in the Mountains of North Carolina. With her Husband, James, she has two beautiful children.

Anna Geel

Anna joined our team in October 2022. She is a senior at Appalachian State University in the Interdisciplinary Studies program Self-Design. She is choosing to focus her degree on Nonprofit Leadership. She has a background in the medical field as a Certified Medical Assistant and brings experience with customer service to the Association.

Anna is originally from Coastal Maine and relocated to the High Country in 2021. Outside of work, she enjoys hiking, gardening, photography, and spending time with her family and friends.

As the first face you see when you walk in the door, you can always find her with a smile.

Tyler Gibson

Tyler Gibson

Tyler Gibson, a North Carolina native with more than a decade of political campaign, organizing, event management and fundraising experience, will serve as the High Country Association of REALTORS® new Government Affairs Director (GAD). Gibson has worked in local, state and federal political campaigns as well as non-profit organizations in California, North Carolina and Washington, DC. He is a Greensboro native and graduate of UNC-Greensboro. He currently lives in Asheville.

“Tyler understands the political landscape of the region and has the ability and experience to bring community groups together to benefit real estate interests,” said Warren Wakeland, NC REALTORS® Field Advocacy Director, who has oversight of the organization’s GAD program. “He will help further HCAR’s interests in Watauga County and the region to accommodate its current growth and plan for future growth.”
