Leaf season now hitting its peak in the High Country

The Autumn color is at its peak atop Grandfather Mountain, and is cascading all the way into the Boone area. The highlights should remain strong for the remainder of the week into next. Artwork is just a backyard away!

Fall color may be at its peak today on Grandfather Mountain, but there are lots of leaves left to turn along the Blue Ridge Parkway and in other parts of the High Country below 4,000 feet. The color is also beginning to pop out in Boone at 3,300 feet, in Foscoe at 3,000 feet and in Valle Crucis at 2,700 feet. The next week to ten days should continue to be spectacular. ...

Only about a quarter of the trees have turned so far, so there are plenty of leaves left out there to add color to the weeks ahead.
