It's the most .. wonderful time ... of the year (again)

Christmas in July in Ashe CountyWell the weather outside is sweatful. And the bonfire is sure delightful. And since it's too hot to snow, let's have a show, have a show, have a show!

The annual Christmas in July festival is Saturday in West Jefferson. There will be music, food, vendors and more than one carol sung as the most prolific Christmas Tree market in the Southeast celebrates one of its economic engines. More than 200,000 people are expected on the streets to indulge in memories of cold and snow during the hot summer month of July.

The festival is a showcase for the Ashe County and North Carolina Christmas Tree Associations exhibiting beautiful examples of the popular Fraser fir tree growing in abundance all across the High Country. This 25th anniversary festival will feature a return of grower exhibits, competitions and other related activities, and give visitors an opportunity to try their hand. See how the festival all began as a way to highlight this major industry in the mountains.
