Live the Dream #18 - Singing on the Mountain

Singing on the MountainA couple of weeks ago the High Country marked the 88th edition of a annual tradition. Sunday comes another great event with a history almost just as long. It's the 87th annual Singing on the Mountain.

Held at the base of Grandfather Mountain, the Singing attracts thousands of gospel performers and fans for a outdoor celebration of music.

This year’s event will pay special tribute to the lives of two men who helped to build this old time gospel convention, Robert Hartley and Tony Greene. ...

Thousands will congregate to honor their lives and contributions, and to appreciate the music that brought them all together. In addition to The Hoppers and the Tim Greene Trio, there will be performances by The Primitive, Michael Combs, The Cockman Family, the Gospel Enforcers, Terry Warren and George Hamilton IV.

The “Singing” kicks off with music at 8:30 a.m. and lasts until 3 p.m., with a mid-day break for Tim Greene to deliver his message. Admission is free with the motto remaining the same for 87 years: ”Whosoever will may come.” Camping without hookups is available on the grounds on a first come basis.
